TypeHive has no accounts, and nothing you type ever leaves your device.

What you type is compared with the target text inside your browser. It is not recorded and not sent to us.

Results, personal bests, key statistics, lesson progress and times-table statistics are stored in your browser so the site can show your progress and build drills from your mistakes. Clearing your browser data removes them; the weak-keys page has a button that clears the key statistics alone.

Challenge links contain a seed for the word list and the score to beat — no name, nothing about you.

Visits are counted without cookies and without any identifier: once a day your browser tells us the date it first visited and today’s date, which is how we know whether people come back. Finished tests are counted as a number, never with their content or result.

Ads keep the site free. Advertising partners may use cookies or similar technologies to deliver and measure ads. The embedded test carries no ads.
